In-Focus Gallery:
Graceful Appearance: Passion, Perception and Expression
Michael Wood & Julie DuBose

An exhibit of contemplative photography of Michael Wood and Julie DuBose of Boulder’s Miksang Institute. Miksang is photography in which the camera is used to express visual perceptions exactly as the photographer experiences them.

McMahon Gallery:
Still Life: Three Interpretations
Keith Brenner (Colorado)
Quoleena Sbrocca (Colorado)
Stephen Althouse (Pennsylvania)

In Brenner’s work, the object, the shadow and the surface of the original black and white photograph are separated resulting in graphic images that are reminiscent of 1960’s-70’s pop art.

Sbrocca’s photographs of objects were taken on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The items photographed were left as the artist found them – an abandoned teddy bear, a discarded doll, a pair of well-worn work boots, each telling a poignant story.

Althouse poses tools, then photographs them head-on. His subjects are tools of work and tools of war. Thus posed, and without background, they appear as objects to be revered.
