April 4th 12-4pm : Family Saturday Workshop - Sebastiaan Bremer, “Schoener Gotterfunken” based workshop.
The Dikeou Collection is pleased to announce its participation in 2015’s Month of Photography with two photography-inspired family workshops. The workshops will be held at the Dikeou Collection, 1615 California St, Suite 515, and will take place on Saturday, March 7, and Saturday, April 4, from 12:00 to 4:00pm. Both workshops are free and open to the public, with materials and light refreshments provided.
The Dikeou Collection’s Family Saturday Workshops are a great way for people of all ages to learn more about contemporary art and experiment with new creative processes. Each workshop will begin with a brief guided tour of the collection, as well as a tutorial and presentation of the artwork highlighted that month.
The first workshop on March 7 will focus on artist Lee Stoetzel’s photo series titled Accidental Tourism. Participants will explore the Dikeou Collection with digital cameras and take “extreme close-up” photos of the galleries and the artwork to create images that are familiar yet abstract. Then one or two photographs will be selected to print and take home.
The second workshop on April 4 will focus on artist Sebastiaan Bremer's photo series titled Schöner Götterfunken. Participants will employ Bremer’s unique style of photo alteration by painting, drawing, and etching upon a variety of vintage photographs to create their own Bremer-inspired artwork.
