About Young Artist Studio:
The Young Artist Studio offers free after-school, 6-week workshops for youth ages 11-21. Exhibitions at the Center for Visual Art inspire and determine the themes, media and cultures explored in the workshops. The CVA promotes dialog through exhibitions of contemporary artists from throughout the world whose work addresses the human experiences in the 21st century. Political satire, water resources, regional diaspora and cultural boundaries have been prominant themes in recent exhibitions.

The youngest artists gain exposure to a variety of techniques and methods while our senior artists develop a portfolio of work.  MSU Denver art education students apprentice in the studio developing curriculum and teaching new media to young artists. Graduates from our apprenticeship program enter successfully into careers in schools, community and arts organizations with experience teaching project based, exploratory units based on primary source exploration.  Young artists benefit from instructors enmeshed in contemporary learning theory with expertise in a variety of media.

An inclusive and diverse community, our Young Artists come from throughout the metro area. In the Studio they begin to recognize the role of contemporary art in global dialog and develop creative capacity and self-efficacy to be leaders in their communities.   Each year we celebrate with an exhibition of work created in the Studio.
