The subject of his work is informed and influenced by his lifelong experience of living with acute rheumatoid arthritis. His photographs harness both the raw and elegant aspects of the human body in motion. He is well known for recording the likenesses of many area artists and students over the span of his career.

Patricia Barry Levy

On View April 7 – May 28
Opens First Friday April 7, 5:00- 7:30 PM
Special First Friday Art Parties on May 1st, 5-7:30PM
Deco Lounge

Patricia Barry Levy’s work is inspired by beauty, mystery, whimsy and the varieties of challenges faced by humanity and the natural world in a rapidly changing environment. Levy creates photographs on road trips to the swath of the American Great Plains that extends eastward from her Denver area home. There, she is inspired by the absence people and an abundance of seemingly empty space. For her, it feels like a tabula rasa from which to reflect on one’s relationship to the land and the natural world. Levy extends her image making practice to the studio, as well, where she constructs additional photographs and scans using collected objects, and search for vintage illustrations. New narratives then emerge through her image combinations to become finished works.

The Deco Lounge is one of the coolest spaces in the building with an art deco vibe accented by Dale Chihuly’s Blue Sapphire Chandelier. It is open before theatre performances, during intermissions and by request. The Deco Lounge also functions as a gallery, showcasing and selling the work of Colorado’s finest artists with First Friday Art Party events and displays managed by the FAC Museum Shop.
