Rocky Mountain Monochrome Salon
Shades of Gray

February 22 - March 22, 2019
Opening February 22, 4-7pm

The Center for the Arts Evergreen is please to host an exhibit of the Rocky Mountain Monochrome Salon members entitled “Shades of Gray”. Monochrome photography takes many forms in our modern age: traditional film-based, black-and-white photography, digital black-and-white photography, hybrid photography, which combines aspects of both traditional and digital processes, and historic photographic processes that date back to the earliest days of photography.

The mission of the Rocky Mountain Monochrome Salon is to support monochrome-based fine art photographers across the Rocky Mountain Region, while educating the public and art community about the history, processes and value of monochrome photography today. Artists participating with the Rocky Mountain Monochrome Salon are: Dave Barry, Jeff Graves, Chris James, Ron Johnson, Linda Little, Jim Montague, Steve Podrasky, Michael Snively, George Vago, and Jacqueline Webster.

Coinciding with the exhibit will be three educational experiences. CAE Executive Director, Steve Sumner, will be presenting a brown bag lecture, “History of Photography”, on February 27th at noon, which will be free and open to the public. A panel discussion entitled “Why Black and White?” will take place on March 8th starting at 4:00pm. Finally, Jaqueline Webster will be presenting a lecture on “Alternative Process” on March 14th at 4:00pm.

The exhibition opens on February 22nd, 2019 and runs through March 22nd, 2019 at the Center for the Arts Evergreen located at 31880 Rocky Village Drive Evergreen, CO. A reception open to the public will take place from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Friday, February 22nd with refreshments at the Center for the Arts Evergreen.
